Scarecrow village l Nagoro Japan

Up until a few years ago, Nagoro’s population was just over 300 people. In the last couple of years, Japan’s recent urbanization left Ngoro with only a few dozen of people, as most went on to find a better livelihood in big cities like Osaka and Tokyo.

In order for the ones who remained behind loyal to village life not to feel lonely, Yumi, the youngest resident in the village (65′) decided to create a unique scarecrow which resembling each member who abandoned Nagoro.

Today, Nagoro consists of a few dozen people, who are surrounded by hundreds of puppets that symbolize its former residents;every friend, family member and neighbor who moved to the big cities.
